Beyond Manipulation is a two day practical course for osteopaths and manual clinicians that teaches a clear, clinically useful hierarchy for manual treatment, helping you organise the techniques you already use into a coherent, integrated approach.
Course structure
Day 1 – Lower limb and lumbopelvic integration
Hip, knee, ankle, foot and lumbopelvic contribution.
Efficient clinical assessment and functional testing
Soft tissue options for common lower limb patterns
Articulation and mobilisation of hip, knee, ankle and foot
MET for hip and lower limb muscle groups
Selected HVLA for sacroiliac and lower limb restrictions within the hierarchy
Case based pathways using Soft tissue → Mobilise → MET → Thrust with test → treat → retest
Day 2 – Spine and upper extremity integration
Lumbar, thoracic, cervical, shoulder and upper limb.
Regional assessment and screening including red flags and vascular considerations
Early stage strategies soft tissue for lumbar, thoracic, cervical and shoulder presentations
Mobilisation and articulation for lumbar, thoracic, cervical and shoulder girdle
MET for thoracic, rib, cervical and scapular / glenohumeral control
HVLA for thoracic spine, ribs and selected lumbar segments
Resources
All participants receive access to an online course module that functions as the course manual, outlining the hierarchy and summarising techniques, plus access to course video recordings as an ongoing reference resource.
